Pikliz is the ultimate condiment for dungeon delvers. Rumors say it was brought from an island in another world.
Ingredients:
1 Cabbage
3-4 medium carrots
1 onion/6 scallions/4 small shallots
Good sea salt
1-6 Scotch Bonnet Peppers
For finishing:
Peppercorns
1 sprig thyme*
1-3 cloves*
Vinegar/Lime Juice
Peppercorns
1 sprig thyme*
1-3 cloves*
Vinegar/Lime Juice
1. Wash and shred vegetables.
2. Rub with salt and place in clean container.
3. Let sit at room temperature for up to one week.
4. Wring excess brine from vegetable mix but reserve in case you overly dry out your mix.
5. Divide veggie mix into clean glass jars.
6. Place 1 sprig of thyme and a few peppercorns into each jar.
7. Top off each jar with vinegar or lime juice (vinegar will preserve them longer, lime juice pikliz should be used sooner.)
8. Allow flavors to meld for a few hours if using lime juice or up to one week if using vinegar. Keep jars in a cool dark place until opened.
9. Always retrieve pikliz from jar with a clean utensil.
Pikliz makes a great topping for rice and fried dishes (meat or vegetables.)
One serving of Pikliz with a meal grants an adventurer advantage against freezing magic and traps for one hour.
